Duration for all these degree programmes is 4 years and they conducted above programmes under English medium. There is a civil student who follow this Engineering courses and for civil student the course duration will be for 4 years.

Duration of MBBS Degree programme conducted by General Sir John Kotelawala Defense University (KDU) is five years and it divide in to 10 semesters.
Clinical Training at KDU
Clinical Training Kotelawala Defense University starts in the third year and following the completion of the second MBBS and goes on until the end of the final year. Initially the KDU have started their Clinical Training at following hospitals with the aid of Ministry of Health and KDU is in-between the process of establishing a 1000 bedded Teaching Hospital at Werahera with all facilities required to train Medical Students by Sri Lanka Medical Council.
Entry Qualification for Study Medicine in Sri Lanka at KDU
The selection of Officer Cadets for the KDU is different from the other Universities in Sri Lanka. Endeaver is to enlist balanced students with required qualities demanded by the services. Selection of MMS was similar to the admission criteria laid down by the KDU for other degree courses and the Z score applicable to the other medical schools will be followed with additional criteria required by the three forces. The additional criteria include Physical characteristics. KDU wishes to implement an equal gender ratio policy once the buildings are completed and logistics constraints are removed. As the first step FOM/KDU will enlist female cadets for the Intake 30.
